A young man has sparked widespread discussion on social media after warning young people about the challenges of becoming parents before they are fully prepared.

In a viral video circulating online, the speaker urged boys and girls to avoid unplanned parenthood, describing early childbirth without proper preparation as a major setback for many young people pursuing their goals and ambitions.

While acknowledging the widely held belief that “a child is a blessing,” he argued that parenthood comes with significant responsibilities and should be approached with careful planning. He stressed that individuals must prepare themselves mentally, spiritually, and financially before starting a family.

According to him, many young people rush into having children without considering the long-term demands of raising a child, which can include providing education, healthcare, and other essential needs.

He explained that once a child is born, parents often shift their attention away from personal dreams and ambitions to focus on meeting the child’s needs. He added that the responsibilities increase as children grow older.

Reflecting on the experiences of previous generations, the young man said many parents sacrificed their own aspirations while hoping their children would eventually improve the family’s economic situation. However, he cautioned that expecting children to become a solution to financial struggles is unrealistic.

He also advised young men against viewing their children as a “retirement plan,” noting that children eventually grow up and take on their own responsibilities, including caring for their own families.

Using an example of a worker earning 1,200, he explained that spending 900 on a child’s needs could leave little money for personal expenses or supporting ageing parents. He said such situations often contribute to the continuation of financial difficulties across generations.

The speaker encouraged young people to take responsibility for family planning, including the use of protection, and to focus on building stable lives before becoming parents.

The video has generated mixed reactions online, with many supporting his message about responsible parenting and preparation, while others continue to debate the cultural expectations and realities surrounding early parenthood.
