A man who allegedly posed as a qualified lawyer for about five years has been arrested at the Waterloo Magistrate Court after reportedly attempting to represent a client in a bail application.
The suspect was apprehended on Thursday, August 27, 2026, after appearing before Magistrate Shaka P. Kamara, popularly known as Shaka P, and allegedly seeking access to the Magistrate’s Chambers to apply for bail on behalf of a client.
According to information from the court, the man had allegedly received NLe10,000 for the purported legal representation. His presence at the court reportedly raised questions about his status and conduct, leading to further scrutiny.
Barrister Abdul A. Kamara of Nicol-Wilson & Co., Malaika Chamber, reportedly questioned the man about his legal credentials and whether he was authorised to practise law.
During the exchange, the suspect allegedly admitted that he had been presenting himself as a lawyer for approximately five years.
He reportedly claimed to have represented several clients in different parts of Sierra Leone and identified himself as being associated with Glorious Chamber.
The revelations have raised concerns over the possibility that other members of the public may have previously engaged his services without knowing that he was allegedly not a qualified legal practitioner.
Following his arrest at the court premises, the suspect was reportedly handed over to the Sierra Leone Police and remains in custody as investigations continue.
