A young man has been arrested in Falaba District after residents allegedly caught him attempting to rape a woman.

The suspect, identified as Abdulai Conteh of Waterloo, was reportedly apprehended by community members who intervened during the alleged incident.

According to accounts from residents, Conteh allegedly claimed that a traditional healer had provided him with a charm that would enable him to commit rape without being detected. Residents also alleged that he may have been involved in similar incidents in other communities within the district, though such claims have not yet been independently verified.

Following the arrest, community members expressed outrage and called on the Sierra Leone Police to conduct a thorough investigation into the alleged assault and any possible involvement of other individuals.

Community leaders have condemned the incident and warned against beliefs or practices that could be used to justify sexual violence, while urging authorities to ensure that anyone found responsible faces the law.
