The Fourah Bay College (FBC), Law Society Executive has on Wednesday, 8th February, 2023 put out a ‘Public Notice’ informing its constituent that, ‘the legal mandate’ that was given to them (executive) by the students of the society, has expired and thus called for another election.
According to the notice undersigned by the Secretary General, Abu Bakarr Marrah, who is undoubtedly, now serving as a ‘caretaker secretary’ indicated that, their executive’s tenure has ended, noting that, they don’t want to go beyond the actual mandate the students of the revered society gave them some months back.
It seems, the president of the outgoing executive, Madam Bintu Bangura doesn’t want to serve ‘unconstitutionally’ thus, she is very keen to call on the ascribed ‘Electoral Body’ to chip in for election, stating that, she does not want the students to see her and her hardworking team as ‘power-hungry’ students.
“We further express thanks and appreciation to each student of the Society for giving us the opportunity to serve them and to represent their interests which we accordingly did to the best of our abilities. It has been a worthwhile privilege. Thank, you!” the notice indicated.
However, even though the notice is clear on what it wants the ‘electoral body’ to do, yet, it failed to state or update the students when the next Society’s election which would usher in new executive members, would be held. .
