The Freetown City Council (FCC), in collaboration with the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) and FCC-approved waste service providers, has intensified a citywide door-to-door sensitisation campaign aimed at improving waste management and keeping Freetown clean.
The exercise forms part of the DortiMustGo campaign and is being conducted across the eight blocks of Freetown. Officials are engaging households, businesses and institutions to raise awareness about proper waste disposal and the importance of subscribing to approved waste collection services.
During the engagement, residents and businesses are being sensitised about the 2024 Sanitation Bye-Law, while FCC-approved waste service providers are registering households and businesses for regular waste collection.
The exercise also seeks to encourage residents to make timely payments for waste collection services as the Council steps up efforts to strengthen waste management across the capital.
The FCC says the collaboration with the police and waste service providers is intended to improve compliance with sanitation regulations and ensure that waste is properly collected and disposed of.
The ongoing campaign comes as the Council continues efforts to promote a cleaner and healthier Freetown through increased public participation and enforcement of sanitation measures.
