The Sierra Leone Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has reportedly arrested four suspects in connection with an alleged attempted break-in at a gold office along Number 13 Bumbuna Road in Magburaka.

Head of CID, ACP Alieu Jalloh, said preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects allegedly entered the compound by breaking through a fence at the rear of the premises.

According to ACP Jalloh, the suspects were attempting to gain access to the gold office when they were detected by a police officer and Community Safety Volunteers who were on patrol.

He said the suspects fled the scene after they were discovered, prompting a pursuit by security personnel. The chase later led to the interception of a vehicle and the arrest of its driver.

ACP Jalloh said subsequent police checks showed that some of the suspects had previous criminal records. He, however, did not provide further details about their alleged past offences.

The four suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the attempted break-in and determine the full extent of their involvement.
