Former Sierra Leone Ambassador to South Korea and former flagbearer aspirant of the All People’s Congress (APC), Omrie Golley has on 7 March 2023 presented cash and food items to grassroots supporters of the party.
The donations took place at the party’s headquarters in Freetown.
During the presentation ceremony, Ambassador Golley reaffirmed his commitment to the party despite losing the flagbearer contest at their convention held in Makeni last month.
He further took the opportunity to congratulate the elected APC flagbearer, Dr. Samura Kamara, and pledged his commitment to work with him for a resounding victory in the 24 June general elections.
Making his reunion statement, he called on all party supporters to embrace the new realities and work hard to bring the party back to power in 2023, adding that is the greater picture they are all fighting to achieve irrespective of their indifferences.
The newly elected National Secretary General, Lansana Dumbuya Esq appreciated the gesture on behalf of the beneficiary groups.
He said, “It is only people who have the party at heart who will think of supporting those working for the party. You are the kind of person the party needs at this time…”
He said, Amb. Omrie Golley has shown a great effort and served as an example to other party stalwarts in making sure that, the mission and vision of the party are upheld as the top priority of all comrades.
Dumbuya disclosed that he was among the first candidates to call and congratulate the APC flagbearer in a show of comradeship and genuine party solidarity.
It is recorded that, a similar donation was made in January this year to the disabled wing, taskforce, women’s wing, youth wing and several other groups within the party, and the current donation to the party’s grassroots becomes an added gesture.
