As the world celebrates February 14 Valentine’s day which coincides with International Condoms Day, the Ministry of Youths Affairs is leading a campaign for youths to practise safe sex in Sierra Leone.

As part of plans to mark the event, the ministry has scheduled a 4-day activities to sensitize the youths on sexually transmitted diseases, unwanted pregnancy and the proper use of condoms.

The activities are set to include football competitions, pageantry, marathons and seminars.

The Minister of Youths, Mohammed Banjura advised   Youths to embrace sex education, and practise safe sex in other to improve their well-being.

Also addressing the issue, the Director-General of HIV/AIDS, Abdul Rahman Sesay disclose that HIV/AIDS is a rampant virus in the country and among the youth making it imperative to educate them about the danger of unprotected sex and the risks involved.

The country program manager for the AIDS Healthcare the Foundation, Maitta J Kaisamba encourage youths to also get tested and know their HIV status early.
