Edwina Jamiru has set out a series of conditions for Justice Momoh Jah Stevens regarding the welfare of the child they share, emphasising the father’s responsibilities under the law.
According to Jamiru, she is requesting that Justice Stevens purchase a house for the child as part of his parental obligations. She referenced provisions in the Child Rights Act 2024, noting that a father is required to provide for his child until the child reaches adulthood, including ensuring access to food, clothing, shelter, and education.
Jamiru further stated that failure to meet these conditions could result in legal action. She indicated her intention to pursue the matter through the courts if necessary, warning that such proceedings could carry serious consequences.
She also highlighted concerns about Stevens’ advancing age, stressing the importance of taking timely steps to secure the child’s future.
The matter, if pursued legally, is expected to draw attention to the enforcement of child welfare laws and parental responsibilities under Sierra Leonean legislation.
