John Konteh of Africell has revealed how his retired parents have introduced school feeding in Rarangawa, a Village in Gbendembu Ngowahun.
Gbendembu Ngowahun is a Chiefdom, in the Bombali District, Northern Province of Sierra Leone.
According to Konteh, his parents had completed the school they started last year and had provided furniture and learning materials for kids at the village.
But however, due to the poor background, the parents can only afford one meal a day which they get after school, thus making learning became difficult.
He said these kids go to school hungry, sit in class and run around hungry during lunch, adding that they would leave intermittently just to drink water.
In order to aid the development of these undernourished kids and thereby ensure their successful school career, his parents started feeding them during lunch.
They are now getting food during lunch break courtesy of his parent’s retirement benefit and the help of family and friends.
