Lawyer Jonathan Kurabu Blasts PRA Over Fuel Pricing, Demands Immediate Action
Aaron Parker Renowned legal practitioner, Lawyer Jonathan Hindolo Kurabu Esq., has publicly criticized the management of the Petroleum Regulatory Agency (PRA) for what he describes as a failure to adjust the national price formula for petroleum products in line with current global market trends.
In a strongly worded statement, Lawyer Kurabu expressed disappointment in the agency’s inaction despite a noticeable reduction in pump prices by fuel dealers across the country. According to him, some dealers have already brought down prices from Le27,300 to as low as Le24,000 and Le25,000 per litre.
“If fuel dealers known for their profit-driven motives can voluntarily reduce pump prices, then of what relevance is the Petroleum Regulatory Agency?” Kurabu questioned.
He emphasized that the global market environment is currently favourable for petroleum product pricing, and as such, there is no justification for maintaining high domestic pump prices. He further called on PRA officials to act swiftly by reducing the pump price to Le20,000 or vacate their offices.
“We demand a call for action,” Kurabu stressed, urging the PRA to live up to its mandate of protecting consumer interest and ensuring fair fuel pricing nationwide.
The statement has sparked public discourse, with many citizens echoing similar sentiments and calling for transparency and accountability within the petroleum regulatory sector.
