Report reaching this medium states that at least two vehicles owned by the Koidu limited mining company have recently involved in a fatal road accidents at different time and places in Kono District.

According to the report one of the vehicles with registration number ADJ 357 around Bengazi area in Koidu City hit and allegedly killed Samuel Komba age twenty-one a student of Assemblies of God secondary school and of New London community Tankoro Chiefdom Kono District.

The Report furthered that the other vehicle with unclear registration number up to press time is reported to have also allegedly knocked down to death an unidentified young man whilst trekking from Sewafeh town to Koidu City. The two corpses are believed to have been laid to rest after necessary medical examinations at Koidu government hospital Mortuary.

Superintendent of police Mustapha Alhaji Sessie is the district Traffic Officer attracted to the Tankoro Police Divisional headquarters in Koidu City said in an interview with A-Z, said that he had confirmed that at least two vehicles belonging to the Koidu Limited Mining Company have involved in the reported fatal road accidents within Kono District noting that police investigation into the matters is ongoing.

He further maintained that their investigation is only targeting the drivers and not the company that owns the two vehicles. Meanwhile, efforts to get the side of the management of Koidu Limited Mining Company on the said issue, the assistant community affairs manager Koidu Limited Mining Company, Sahr Philip Sorgboi in a telephone interview with A-Z denied commenting on the matter as it was under police investigation. He told A-Z that he has no right to factor the matter in his report as police investigation into the matter was in progress.

However, this medium has been informed that the company is on the verge to compensate the bereaved family members with few Leones and a bag of rice to settle such matters.

A-Z Newspaper reports that, owing to the aforementioned gossip, some residents of Koidu municipality have called on the police to thoroughly investigate the matters in order to bring to book the culprits.
