The Sierra Leone police through the Internal Affairs Ministry has transformed the Koindu police post into a Divisional Headquarters.

The move according to the Regional Police Commander East, Andrew Mustapha Kamara came after series of concerns from the community relating to the constant increase in population and that Koindu shares borders with neighboring Guinea and Liberia which also calls for security attention.

Regional Commander Kamara further disclosed that the division will operate with three police posts within the Kissi community, including, Buedu police post, Kangama, and Dia Kissi Kama.
Enlisting the benefits of having a Divisional Headquarters in Koindu, Regional Commander Andrew Mustapha Kamara mentioned the reduction in transportation costs for traveling to Kailahun cases, the reduction in crime rates since the security presence is felt.
He encouraged the citizens of the community to support the Sierra Police in achieving the best possible outcome.

This event was witnessed by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Paramount chiefs of the three kissi chiefdoms (Kissi Kama, Kissi Tongi, and Kissi Teng), RSLAF, Honorable Members of parliament women and youth leaders, among others.

The Paramount chief of Kissi Teng Emmanuel Nyuma Ganawa 4th expressed profound thanks and gratitude for such development which he described as important and timely. And further registered his commitment on behalf of the local authorities to fully support the venture.

The new division was officially opened and handed over to the newly elevated Local Unit Commander of the division.
Cultural music and dances sparked the streets of Koindu, celebrating the new development.
