On August 12, 2024, the Kono District Council held its monthly meeting, attracting various development partners and media representatives.
The meeting, presided over by Council Chairman Augustine Sahr Sheku, offered updates on several key development initiatives for the district.
A major highlight was the announcement of plans to procure motorbikes for the councilors. Chairman Sheku noted that many residents in certain areas and chiefdoms were unaware of their councilors due to limited mobility.
To address this, the chairman announced that the council would include the motorbike procurement in the upcoming budget. The motorbikes would be provided to councilors either on a gradual payment plan until they own them or as council property to be returned at the end of their term.
