The Kurankoh Tribal Union, commonly known as the Ferensola Organisation, has elected Finnah Sesay as its new Mammy Queen, marking a new chapter in the organisation’s traditional leadership and efforts to promote Kuranko culture and unity in Sierra Leone.

The Ferensola Organisation is a cultural and development union established to bring together Kuranko people across the country, with a focus on preserving their language, traditions and cultural heritage while promoting unity and development within Kuranko communities.

Named after Ferensola, a historic Kuranko town in Diang Chiefdom, Koinadugu District, the organisation seeks to provide a common platform for Kuranko people from districts including Koinadugu, Tonkolili, Kono and Bombali, as well as those living in the Western Area.

Its objectives include promoting the Kuranko language, preserving cultural practices, advocating for development initiatives such as roads, schools and healthcare facilities, and strengthening the community’s engagement with the Government of Sierra Leone.

The organisation is led nationally by Dr Shekou M. Sesay, a former United Nations diplomat, Member of Parliament and Minister of Education, while Robert Brima Koroma serves as Chairman for the Western Area.

The organisation has previously stated that it is apolitical and committed to working with the government of the day in the interest of national development and the advancement of Kuranko communities.

With Finnah Sesay’s election as Mammy Queen, the organisation is expected to continue its cultural and traditional activities while strengthening its role in promoting unity and preserving the identity of the Kuranko people.
