A 22-years old lady called Safiatu Sesay has been remanded by Magistrate Marke Ngegba of the Pademba Road court No.1 in Freetown, on Tuesday 12th September 2023.
The accused Saffiatu Sesay was arraigned before the court on alleged cybercrime.
According to Magistrate Ngegba remark in open court, he stated that cybercrime-related offences should not be treated with levity.
It was alleged in court that the accused Saffiatu Sesay, in Freetown, between the 4th of June and 3rd August, 2023, did send grossly offensive messages through social media via Facebook with account name ‘Sia Rose’ to Major Amadu Ahmed Kargbo.

The accused is faced with one count charge of cyber bullying contrary to Section 44 (2) (b) of the Cyber Crime Act 2021.
The complainant is represented by police prosecutor Inspector Sellu Tap, whilst the accused person has no legal representative in court. Meanwhile, Magistrate Mark Ngegba has remanded the accused and adjourned the matter to the 15th of September 2023, for the complainant to testify.
