Man Arrested for Allegedly Exhuming Decomposed Body
Aaron Parker The Sierra Leone Police have arrested a man identified as Amara Kamara, a resident of Bonthe Island, over the alleged unlawful exhumation of a decomposed body from its grave and the removal of the burial shroud.
According to a statement issued by the Sierra Leone Police on Wednesday, 4 November 2026, the suspect allegedly dug up the deceased’s body and removed the shroud used to wrap it during burial.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged incident have not yet been disclosed by the police.
The police confirmed that Kamara is currently in custody, alongside the recovered burial shroud, which has been retained as an exhibit as investigations into the matter continue.
The Sierra Leone Police have not provided further details regarding the motive behind the alleged act.
