A vehicle belonging to the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF), attached to the 14th Infantry Battalion, has been involved in a serious road accident in Pujehun Town, leaving one military officer dead and several security personnel injured.
The incident reportedly occurred near the Pujehun Centre Mosque, opposite the FOCUS1000 office, where the military vehicle, bearing registration number CO14 BAN 72SL57, overturned under circumstances that are yet to be fully established.
Preliminary information indicates that the security personnel were returning to their barracks after providing security coverage at the ongoing All People’s Congress (APC) Constituency 100 election being held at the party office in Pujehun Town.
Following the accident, several military personnel and Sierra Leone Police officers reportedly sustained injuries and were subsequently rushed to Pujehun Government Hospital for medical attention.
One of the military officers involved in the accident reportedly succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at the hospital.
The exact circumstances surrounding the accident, including what may have caused the vehicle to overturn, remain unclear as authorities have not yet issued a detailed official account.
