Orange Sierra Leone has provided financial support to the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) following a fire incident at the institution, reaffirming the company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and national development initiatives.

The donation, presented during a brief ceremony held on Friday, 15 May 2026, was aimed at supporting SLBC during what officials described as a difficult period for the national broadcaster while also strengthening collaboration in the areas of information dissemination, public awareness and media development in Sierra Leone.

Orange Sierra Leone stated that the intervention reflects the company’s continued dedication to supporting national institutions and maintaining strategic partnerships that contribute to public service and national growth.

Leading the Orange Sierra Leone delegation at the presentation ceremony were the company’s Chief Marketing Officer, Abdramane Kone, and General Secretary, Danetta Younge.

The donation was received on behalf of SLBC by Director General, Josephine Kamara, and Deputy Director General, Mohamed Asmieu Bah, who welcomed the support and acknowledged the importance of the partnership at a time when the institution is recovering from the fire incident.

According to Orange Sierra Leone, the company values the role played by SLBC in promoting access to information, increasing public awareness and supporting national development through responsible broadcasting.

Also present at the ceremony was the Chief Executive Officer of OWL Newspaper, Alhaji Dauda Bangura, who joined the Orange Sierra Leone delegation during the handing-over event.

Orange Sierra Leone further reaffirmed its commitment to supporting impactful initiatives and partnerships that contribute to community empowerment, institutional strengthening and national development.

The company noted that such interventions form part of its broader corporate social responsibility agenda aimed at supporting institutions that serve the public interest and contribute to Sierra Leone’s development efforts.
