The Sierra Leone Autistic Society in collaboration with Orange SL Foundation and Ministry of Social Welfare along side other noble Partners celebrated The World Autism Awareness Day on Tuesday the 25th April 2023 with this year’s Theme: Transforming the Narrative at City Hall, Freetown.

Although World Autism Day is on the 2nd of April each year, it is usually celebrated throughout the month of April and this year, a different approach was taken to spread the awareness. Autistic children from SLAS supported by children from the National School for the Deaf showcased their talents through music and dance performances.

Statements were made by different Partners and they together with Orange SL Foundation their main Partner reassured SLAS of their unwavering supports.

In an effort to create platform/s and to give them (Autistic Children) more exposure’ the OSL Foundation will organize a tour for SLAS at both the Orange SL HQ Office and the OCD.

As Sierra Leoneans we have a duty to care and it was emphasized that we all have a responsibility to change the status quo and one such way of doing so is by providing opportunities for these autistic children.

It is a challenge all the Partners have made to continue to support SLAS to ensure that children with autism are provided with the right opportunities to transform the narrative.
