Pademba Road Court Remands 18-Year-Old Over Alleged Housebreaking, Larceny in Freetown
Eighteen-year-old Alimamy Bangura has reportedly been remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown after appearing before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2 on allegations of housebreaking and larceny.
Bangura is accused of committing an offence contrary to Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of the case, the alleged incident occurred on June 2, 2026, at a residence on Carlton Carew Road, off Wilkinson Road, in the Western Area of Freetown.
The prosecution alleges that Bangura broke into the dwelling house of Sarah Tarawalie with the intention of stealing.
It is further alleged that cash and other assorted items were taken from the residence during the incident.
When the charge was read and explained to Bangura in court, he did not enter a plea because the matter is before the court as a committal proceeding.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Sorie Conteh, who represented the prosecution, informed the court that copies of the case file and inquiry documents had been served on Bangura. The accused acknowledged receiving the documents.
Magistrate Fornah subsequently refused bail and remanded Bangura at the Male Correctional Centre, citing the seriousness of the alleged offence.
The matter was adjourned to September 29, 2026, for further proceedings.
The allegations against Bangura have not been proven in court, and he remains entitled to the presumption of innocence unless and until proven guilty by a competent court.
