Two men of God (Pastors) are before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Magistrate Court No.2, Pademba Road, Freetown for an alleged theft.

They are summoned on a private criminal sermons for which the defendant is charged with five Count charges to wit Assault occaisioning actual bodily harm, Larceny, public insult, Abusive language and Threatening language contrary to the Laws of Sierra Leone.

According to the particulars of offence on count 1, on the 15th April 2024 at Goderich in Freetown assaulted Pastor Claudius Freeman and Fatu Freeman the complainant herein occasioning actual bodily harm.

On count two, the respondent on the above date and place stole from Fatu Freeman a handbag valued one thousand Leones containing the sum of sixty thousand Leones thereby depriving her of the same. Count three furthered that on the said date in the view of the public and in the presence of Pastor Claudius Freeman and Fatu Freeman, the respondent insulted them in a manner as would provoke them to commit a breach of the peace.

On count four on the above date and place, the respondent used abusive language against pastor Claudius Freeman and Fatu Freeman with intent to provoke them commit a breach of the peace.

On count five, read that on the above date and place the respondent used threatening languages against Pastor Claudius Freeman and Fatu Freeman with intent to provoke them to commit a breach of the peace The defendant denied the allegations when put to him by the Court Registrar.

Counsel representing the plaintiff/Claimant W. During pleaded with the bench for short adjournment date for him to lead his witness. The Defense Counsel ISY Kamara Esq. applied for bail for and on behalf of the defendant, noting that he is a Sierra Leonean resident within this jurisdiction with reliable sureties who are willing and ready to go into recognizance on his behalf vouched that the defendant will not interfere with the prosecution witness or witnesses nor will he jumped bail.

He made this application pursuant to Section 79 (3)of the Criminal Procedure Act No.32 of 1965 Meanwhile Magistrate Bangura granted the defendant bail on his own recognizance and matter adjourned to the 20th June 2024.
