The Sierra Leone Police has disclosed that two Police oficers have been taken into custody for investigation after allegedly shooting a suspected kidnapper in Bombali District.

SLP made the revelation in a news update issued today, 24 July 2022.

The report states that Police in Makeni and Panlap are handling reported cases of Larceny, Cruelty to Animals and Kidnapping at Ngarankaran, Gowan Chiefdom, Bombali District.

“These reports were made by one Alimu Bah and the Police swiftly went into action and arrested the suspects. They were investigated and charged to court; for which they were remanded and later released on bail,” SLP stated.

“This later culminated to other reported cases of Arson, Kidnappings and threats directed toward Alimu Bah and family again.”

The Police noted that following the successful rescue operation of Alimu Bah’s relative by the Police (he was held in captivity for a considerable period), the focus was shifted towards arresting his kidnappers.

“On Saturday July 23, 2022, the Police in Ngarankaran, Panlap Division, were able to arrest one Abass Conteh, a key suspect linked to the kidnapping incident,” SLP noted.

“In the process of effecting the arrest, there was a reported case of fatal shooting of one Santigie Conteh, allegedly by the Police,” they added.

“Two Police Officers have been taken into custody for investigation,” SLP confirmed, noting that, “more details will be released as the matters progress.”
