March 5th, 2024, the Regional Police Commander, ACP Francis Brima Meinday, spearheaded a meticulously planned operation aimed at dismantling an illegal Cannabis Sativa plantation at ‘Too Small Water’ in Upper Kingston Town, Hastings. Despite encountering challenging terrain, ACP Meinday and his team of elite officers executed the operation with precision and determination.
The operation, fueled by actionable intelligence, targeted the eradication of Cannabis Sativa cultivation, commonly referred to as Jamba, due to its adverse health effects and illegal status. Cannabis Sativa usage has been associated with heightened risks of developing mental health disorders, particularly in individuals predisposed to such conditions.
Motivated by the mission’s significance, ACP Meinday galvanized his personnel to swiftly secure the vast expanse of land where the illicit plantation thrived. Despite the rugged terrain, the team’s dedication ensured the successful clearance of the entire Cannabis Sativa plantation.
During the operation, law enforcement officers apprehended Sallay Kanu, a resident of Too Small Water, Upper Kingston Town, Hastings, for the unlawful possession of dried leaves suspected to be Cannabis Sativa. Kanu’s arrest underscores the police’s unwavering commitment to enforcing laws against illicit drug activities and preserving public safety.
Following the arrest, Sallay Kanu and the confiscated exhibits were transferred to the Transnational Organised Crime Unit (TOCU) for further investigations.
