Sahr Amadu Komba, former Station Manager of the Eastern Community Radio in Koidu City, Kono District has officially declared his intention to run for Member of Parliament for Constituency 026 under the ruling Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP).

He made this declaration and intention known on the 8th April, 2023 at the  NA Court Barry in Koidu City in the presence of party members, the press and other prominent individuals within the city and district at large having spent fifteen years working as a journalist in the district and the country.

‘’ This engagement came about from a call from my community who thought it fit that, with my expertise and works over the years impacting lives of people in Kono District, they have requested my service for a better representation. Today I am moving from the world of journalism to the political world as I have already declared my party for which I want to run, that is the ‘Sierra Leone Peoples Party’. I called this Press Conference to tell the people about my aboard and next journey’’ he said.

Speaking on why he decided to choose the SLPP, he said, due to the landmarks of President Bio in Kono district and other areas in the country ranging from the sustainable peace the nation has currently, the university accorded to Kono district, the electricity facility giving to the district which has been a long term challenge, the free quality school education, the repeal of the 1965 public order act and many more which have contributed to changing the lives of the people of not only Kono district but the country at large. He said the current government has great respect for not only the stakeholders of the district but also its people which has created a very huge impact and that moves him to declare for the SLPP and help his people get quality representation as this is the time for that.

‘’I am Sahr Amodu Komba and I will continue to remain that, I am just changing my job and not myself, I was serving the people as a journalist and will again serve the people but in a different form as a politician in the well of parliament. I will continue to be the critical Sahr Amadu Komba as I have used to when it comes to issues of making Kono a better place at all times’’. He said on his stands moving from the journalism to politics.

He said, he expects maximum support from his constituents at all times to make this a reality. He said, should he failed in politics he can still remain a helper of humanity and doing his personal job as consultant and even establish Radio, TV or Newspaper and maintained that, he may not regret his journey to the world of politics as he made through consultations and have received advice from great minds already.

‘’ The SLPP is a party full of prescribed and well-structured standards and I do believe I am one of the individuals whom they are looking for to get marks and add credit to the party at all times. Although, there are other candidates in the constituency but I am the best to represent my people and positively get constructive developmental activities for them. Popularity is not a problem to me as I am known throughout the fourteen chiefdoms in Kono District and my works speak volume’’ he maintained.
