Following an instruction by the city council, the municipality of Port Loko has embarked on cleaning exercise on Saturday 25 November this year between the hours of 6 to 10am.

The exercise is part of the councils effort in maintaining the best hygiene standards in the municipality.

Speaking to councillor Hassan Yansaneh the chairman of the Waste management committee, he expressed appreciation to the people and thanked God, the mayor and the council for the initiative.

Giving the background of the initiative, he said: “this initiative was brought by the mayor and agreed upon by both administrative and political wings of the council as a flagship program to make Port Loko the cleanest city in the country.”

He went on to state that the exercise is very important for the social, mental and spiritual well-being of the society. He thanked and called on Port Loko people and development partners within and out of the city to support the process by fighting the challenges faced inorder for such initiative to be continued.

Alie sesay one of the youths who took part in the cleaning, acknowledged it’s significance and applauded the council. He called on fellow youths to embrace this good work in the city.
