In preparation for the upcoming general elections on June 24th, the Political Party Regulation Commission (PPRC) and UNDP Sierra Leone have collaborated to involve traditional rulers and paramount chiefs from all 16 districts of the country.
This partnership aims to secure the support of the traditional rulers and paramount chiefs in promoting tolerance and inclusivity for the 2023 general elections, to ensure a competitive and peaceful electoral process. To achieve this, the PPRC has organized various engagements and meetings with representatives from political parties.
Abdulai M. Bangura, the commissioner of the PPRC, has affirmed that the ongoing campaign has been largely peaceful in Sierra Leone. While acknowledging that there is always room for improvement, he emphasized the commission’s commitment to guiding the process and addressing any challenges that may arise.
