Concerns have been raised by members of the public over the alleged involvement of a serving nurse, Eleanor Fanta Fofanah, in active partisan political activities while performing her duties at the Malema 1 Community in Sorogbema Chiefdom, Pujehun District.
According to concerns raised by some community members, Nurse Fofanah is allegedly actively involved in political activities within Constituency 100 of the All People’s Congress (APC). They claim that she is currently serving as Deputy Treasurer of the party at constituency level and is also seeking to contest for the position of Organising Secretary.
The concerns have reportedly sparked debate among members of the public about the expected professional conduct of healthcare workers, particularly those serving in positions that require public trust and confidence.
Some residents argue that nurses and other healthcare professionals should maintain the highest standards of professionalism and ensure that their political activities do not interfere with their official responsibilities or undermine public confidence in the health system.
Community members further allege that the health authorities have previously cautioned Nurse Fofanah over her alleged political involvement, but claim that she has continued to participate in partisan activities.
The allegations have prompted calls from some residents for the Pujehun District Health Management Team (DHMT) and the Ministry of Health to investigate the matter and determine whether her alleged activities are consistent with the applicable professional and public-service rules governing healthcare workers.
Some members of the public say that if the allegations are established, appropriate measures should be taken in accordance with the relevant laws, regulations and professional codes of conduct.
However, as of the time of publication, Nurse Eleanor Fanta Fofanah had not been allowed to respond to the allegations, and the claims made by members of the public have not been independently verified.
Sierraloaded therefore encourages the relevant health authorities and Nurse Fofanah to provide clarification on the matter so that the public can have a balanced understanding of the situation.
