Twenty-six-year-old Sampha Koroma, a security guard, has been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown after appearing before Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 over the alleged theft of a generator battery and other items.
The defendant was before the court on one count charge of larceny servant, contrary to Section 17(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of offence, on Tuesday 28th April 2026, along Wilkinson Road in the Western Area of Freetown, the defendant, being a security guard employed by Mohamed Koroma, allegedly stole one generator battery, iron props, and other assorted items valued at One Hundred and Forty-Five Thousand Five Hundred Leones (Le145,500), property of Mohamed Koroma.
When the charge was read and explained to the defendant, no plea was taken because the matter is before the court on committal proceedings.
The prosecutor, Inspector Kadie M. Taylor, informed the bench that the defendant had been served with copies of the witness statements.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Jah refused bail and ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown.
