Following the incident that happened in Pelewahun Moyamba district, wherein a house was set ablaze, two children have been reported dead. The house belongs to a cattle rearer by the name of Alhaji Ibrahim Jalloh.

It is reported from eyewitness that there was no elderly person in the house when the incident occured.
The matter has been reported to the Taima police station and their remains in police custody for further investigations.

A resident of the town has confirmed that such unfortunate incidents are happening in the town with less or no police interference.

“For the past months, cattle rearers, their houses and cattle are being targetted but the Sierra Leone Police has not done anything or much to apprehend these criminals”.

“It may be recalled that the wife of a cattle rearer was recently shot and killed in cold blood in Falaba District, but to date, no one is arrested for that crime”.

He went further to say that if this is not treat with seriousness from the Sierra Leone police, the people will one day take the law into their hands, which will escalate to something really bad.
“Soon cattle rearers will have no option but to defend themselves since the government through the Sierra Leone Police is incapable of protecting them”.

“This is how conflicts developed in a country, when one group of people is constantly killed, bullied, humiliated and harassed with impunity, while government, community leaders and other authorities pretend not to see or hear about these unfortunate reports”.

”The inactions of the authorities are slowly emboldened the cattle owners to retaliate and defend themselves”.
