he Njala University Administration has renamed the Njala Campus Faculty Building to pay tribute to Professor John Abu Kamara, a distinguished former Principal of Njala University College (NUC).

The ceremony, held on May 31, 2023, was a celebration of Professor Kamara’s outstanding dedication and contributions to the success of Njala University.

During the event, Professor Alieu Mohamed Bah, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Njala Campus, expressed his admiration for Professor Kamara’s hard work and highlighted the positive impact he had on Njala University College and the Njala Campus. Professor Mohamed Syed Fofanah, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Bo Campus and Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Njala University, emphasized that the ceremony aimed to honor Professor Kamara’s significant contributions to the university.

Professor Bashiru Mohamed Koroma, the Vice-Chancellor and Principal, recalled Professor Kamara’s remarkable achievements as a scholar and administrator, including his instrumental role in establishing the Animal Science Department as a prominent center for egg production in Sierra Leone. Professor Koroma affirmed his commitment to revitalizing Professor Kamara’s initiatives during his tenure.

The renaming of the Faculty Building was accompanied by a citation recognizing Professor Kamara’s role in the development of Njala University and his enduring impact on the campus.

Dr. John Kamara, accepting the honor on behalf of his father, expressed gratitude to the University Administration and pledged continued support for Njala University’s growth.

The renaming ceremony symbolizes the deep appreciation and recognition of Professor Kamara’s contributions to Njala University, ensuring that his legacy continues to inspire future generations of students and administrators.
