The Operations Team of Waterloo Police Station have successfully rescued two victims, 53-year-old Agnes Jayah and 16-year-old Aisha Sesay, who were abducted on July 16th, 2023, by a notorious secret society in the outskirts of Bolima Community, Waterloo.
Agnes Jayah and Aisha Sesay were forcibly taken into the secretive world of the “Bondo Secret Society,” where they were destined to undergo initiation as “Soweis,” a post-graduate stage within the society.
The families of the victims, along with the Head Man of Bolima Community and other concerned stakeholders, had desperately sought the release of the captives but to no avail.
Faced with the dire situation, they sought the intervention of Waterloo Police’s esteemed Operations Team, whose swift and decisive action brought much-needed relief to the victims and their families.
The alleged masterminds behind the abduction and initiation, including Hawa Kargbo, Makalay Turay, and six others, have been apprehended and are currently under investigation at CID Waterloo Police Station.
Authorities are examining a range of charges against the suspects, including kidnapping and forced initiation, among others.
During the rescue operation, the police seized several items believed to be used in the Sowei initiation, which will be treated as crucial evidence in the ongoing investigation.
