Abubakarr Sesay, a 25-year-old welder, appeared before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No. 1 on a charge of fraudulent conversion.

The alleged incident in question occurred in February 2025 at Damaya, Hill Station in the Western Area of Freetown.

According to the details presented in court, Sesay was accused of unlawfully converting 156 lengths of half-inch rods, valued at 28,080 leones, which had been entrusted to him by Abubakarr Tarawally for safekeeping.

During the court session, the charge was read and explained to Sesay; however, he did not enter a plea. Notably, he was not represented by legal counsel during the proceedings.

Magistrate Kekura, citing the seriousness of the offense, denied Sesay bail. The proceedings have been adjourned, with the next court date set for May 23, 2025.
