Mayor Aki-Sawyerr Raises Service Delivery Concerns Amid Push for New Councils
Freetown City Council Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr has highlighted the Council’s continued efforts to deliver services to residents despite the financial challenges facing the Council.
In a statement shared on her Facebook page, Aki-Sawyerr noted that discussions are ongoing over the creation of new cities, councils, districts and chiefdoms, with improved service delivery cited as one of the key reasons for the proposed changes.

She, however, stressed that effective service delivery requires adequate resources.
According to Aki-Sawyerr, with support from Infinitum Energy Group and in collaboration with CODOSPHA, Freetown City Council teams have so far cleared illegal dumpsites at nine locations across the city.
The locations include Ojuku Junction, Allen Town Junction, Ferry Junction, Jenner Wright Road via Upgun, Hill Bypass Road, Signal Hill Road, Juba, Bendu’s Drive and Gloucester Street via Victoria Park.

A total of 360 cleaning personnel have been deployed to carry out the work, she said.
“We continue to serve,” Aki-Sawyerr stated.
