Two suspects namely: Sembu Koroma and Sembu Kanu of Maforayka Village in the Bombali Shebora Chiefdom, Northeastern Sierra Leone were arrested by the Makeni Police Division patrol team on Wednesday, 28th December 2022 after they were found in possession of two locally made. “Chakabula” guns without licenses, Police Constable Osman Kamara (13608), the information officer of the said division has confirmed.

The arrest is believed to have been aided by some residents of the village who were alarmed over the presence of the armed men in their midst, and eventually attracted the interest of the Police to storm the village, raid and arrest the suspects with the chakabula guns.

According to Awoko Newspaper on Thursday, Both suspects (Sembu Koroma and Sembu Kanu), all of Maforayka Village that were arrested between the hour of 1:30 pm at Maforayka Village with two unlawfully possessed chakabula guns together with their exhibits have been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department- (CID) of the Makeni Police Division at Rogbaneh in the Bombali District for further Investigation, the Makeni Police Division Information Officer P.C Osman Kamara explained in an interview with

He went on to describe the arrest “as a plus to the Makeni Police Unit which is headed by Assistant Commissioner of Police John Fayia Tumbay as the division’s Local Unit Commander (LUC) who has since ordered his personnel of the patrol team to conduct 24/7 patrols and raids around the Makeni Municipality and its environs to let residents of Makeni enjoy the festive season while staying peaceful.
