Access to health facilities in some parts of the country is a major challenge which had led to the loss of lives especially pregnant women and children.

Efforts have been made by the government and development partners to help combat the situation.

In that light, Sierra Leone Cabinet has approved $28M, for the construction of the 166-bed Maternal Center of Excellence, a partnership between PIH and MOHS to be built on the Koidu Government Hospital.
