The Anti-Corruption Commissioner has revealed to members of the public that he considers the indictment of allege perpetrators in the New York Chancery matter as his Major Highlight For 2021.

He made this statement while responding to an interview conducted by local Radio Station, Radio Democracy as a guest.

In relation to the said matter, on 25th November, 2021, the Anti-Coruption Commission indicted Said Nello, Head of Chancery, Dr Samura M.W Kamara, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and four others relating to the Reconstruction of the Sierra Leone, United Nation Permanent Rep Chancery building in New York.

The Commissioner stated in the interview that the Said matter had to take the commission to New York to get all the necessary facts and evidences before prosecution

A foreign national Jules Sander Davies who was awarded the contract for the reconstruction of the Chancery building is separately charged on one count of fraudulent acquisition of a benefit and one count of knowingly deceiving a principal, and as he gave requestions which contained statements that are defective with the intent to deceive his Principal, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In the said matter, the former Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Samura Kamara who also doubles as the main opposition flag bearer was also charged with one count of misappropriation of Public Funds amounting to Two million, five hundred and sixty thousands United States dollars (54,560,000) meant for the reconstruction of the Chancery building in New York.
