A recent investigation conducted by the Africanist Press has revealed that President Julius Madda Bio’s nephew, Patrick Bio was involved in frivolous cash withdrawals at the Maritime Administration.

According to the Africanist Press, the transaction details show how three officials at the Sierra Leone Maritime Administration (SLMA) withdrew a cumulative total cash of Le1.234 billion (Le1,234,281,951.13) as per diem between 28 January 2019 and 28February 2020.

“The individual transactions were carried out in the names of Ken Philip Sondai (Le781,714,856.93), Umaru Dumbuya (Le147,495,272.30), and Patrick Septimus Bio (Le305,071,789.90). Important to highlight that Patrick Bio is also another nephew of President Julius Maada Bio whose name has featured in corruption-related transactions at the SLMA,” Africanist Press stated.

“Africanist Press will be looking at fresh evidence of corruption at the Sierra Leone Maritime Administration (SLMA) including the dubious and questionable indictment of Paul S. Massaquoi, a trial that has lingered on for almost a year now due to the inability of the ACC to substantiate its allegations,” they added.

The Africanist Press has over the year being conducting independent investigations on the alleged corrupt practices of President Bio and his ruling SLPP government.
