Ambassador of the Republic of Sierra Leone to the People’s Republic of China, Abubakarr Karim, has called on His Excellency President Dr Julius Maada Bio to bid farewell and commence work in Beijing City.

Ambassador Karim said he was excited about the opportunity to serve his nation in China. He commended President Bio for the confidence reposed in him to represent Sierra Leone China and its accredited nations, saying that his appointment was a testimony of the trust in his ability to represent the government and people of Sierra Leone.

“I want to thank you for the opportunity to serve you in your last administration as a minister and I’m extremely excited and also thankful for giving me another opportunity to go and serve you and the nation as an ambassador. I take this very seriously and I will ensure that you succeed in your dispensation,” he assured.

In a brief remark, His Excellency Dr Julius Maada Bio, congratulated Ambassador Karim in his new role, saying that both Sierra Leone and the People’s Republic of China were two countries that enjoyed great relationships and mutual respect. He added that both nations had several areas of cooperation that needed to be deepened in the interest of the two countries.

“As you take up this responsibility, we want to see what your legacy is going to be in terms of involving and deepening those cooperations. You have my fullest support but also you are challenged with several issues that we need to accomplish with the People’s Republic of China. So, I wish you success in your new role and I hope that you will be able to deliver for the people of Sierra Leone,” he concluded.
