The All People’s Congress (APC) Independent Elections Complaint Board (IECB) has announced the resumption of its activities and scheduled a hearing for petitions arising from the recent Ward Rerun Elections.
In a public notice dated August 31, 2026, the IECB said its activities had resumed following various orders issued by High Court Justice Adrian Fisher on the same date.
The Board has invited all petitioners and affected parties involved in the Ward Rerun Elections to appear before it on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. for the hearing of their petitions.
According to the notice, the hearing will be limited to petitions filed in connection with the Ward Rerun Elections, with all petitions across the country scheduled to be heard on the same day.
The IECB has directed petitioners to attend with seven additional copies of their petitions and one witness each representing the petitioner and the affected party.
The Board also requires all district coordinators and Presiding Officers who participated in the rerun ward elections to attend the proceedings.
The hearing will take place at the Freetown City Council, Wallace Johnson Street, 5th Floor, Freetown.
The Board clarified that the notice does not apply to constituency petitions, stating that hearings on constituency petitions have already been concluded and the remaining rulings will be released shortly.
It further noted that rulings for the Western Area, Karene and Port Loko Districts have already been issued.
The resumption of the IECB’s activities comes amid ongoing legal and electoral processes surrounding the outcome of the ward rerun elections, with the scheduled hearing expected to provide an opportunity for petitioners and affected parties to present their cases before the Board.
