APC Member of Parliament Hon. Abdul Latiff Sesay has called on the Government and the National Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NPRA) to reduce fuel prices, arguing that the recent drop in global crude oil prices should be reflected at the pump.
According to Hon. Sesay, the international price of Brent crude oil has fallen to about $78 per barrel, while Sierra Leoneans continue to pay NLe 35 per litre for fuel.
He urged the Government and the NPRA to immediately review the country’s fuel pricing formula and lower the pump price to between NLe 30 and NLe 31 per litre.
“Sierra Leoneans deserve to benefit from reductions in world market prices just as they bear the burden when prices increase,” he stated.
