A total number of 59 Members of Parliament (MPs) under the umbrella of the country’s main opposition, the All People’s Congress (APC) party, have vowed to support the party’s immediate former flagbearer candidate, Samura Kamara, to serve as the party’s Flagbearer Candidate in the forthcoming, June 24th, 2023, multi-tier Presidential and Parliamentary general elections.

With his success in the fight within the APC for the party’s highest office, Flagbearer candidate, Samura Kamara will be serving in the capacity for the second time.

A considerable number of APC members of parliament held a one-day convene at the Committee Room No.1 in parliament on Wednesday, 8th February, 2023, where they endorsed Dr. Samura Kamara as the APC flagbearer for the 2033 multi-tier elections.

These MPs who will serve as delegates and promise Samura Kamara their support at the party polls.

The Opposition Whip in Parliament, Hon. Hassan Sesay, told the meeting that they would crush anyone who dare stood before Samura in the race. He further said that they are going to lead the campaign team of  Samura Kamara and that they are equally going to support him financially.

Consolidating this accord, the presidential candidate aspirant, Kamara told the meeting that APC is the only party that can redeem Sierra Leoneans from its current predicament.

He added that the economy of this country is dead and that only APC party could ease the crisis in the country. He, therefore, appreciated the trust reposed in him by the MPs and later appealed to the party to make amends with the past and move forward because Sierra Leoneans are looking forward to them come 2023 elections.

The leader of the opposition in Parliament, Hon. Chernor R.M. Bah, emphasised that every member of parliament is a delegate and, therefore, the delegates are going to endorse the flagbearer  Samura Kamara to lead the party come June 24 elections.

Samura Kamara told the meeting that he would declare for the position of flagbearer on Sunday, 12th February and this would happen in Makeni where he would equally conduct presentation about the stagnating economy of the country.
