BREAKING: Bank of Sierra Leone Adjust Banking Hours in Response to Nationwide Curfew
Julius Mustapha Harding In response to the recently imposed nationwide curfew from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM, the Bank of Sierra Leone issued a public notice on November 27, 2023, announcing a circular adjustment to banking hours. The notice, outlined the modified operating hours for various financial institutions.
Effective immediately and until further notice, commercial banks, community banks, and microfinance institutions will adhere to the following banking hours: 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM. The Bank of Sierra Leone itself, along with its services to both banks and the public, will operate from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Additionally, Real Time Gross Settlements (RTGS) will be operational from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, while Automated Clearing House (ACH) services will be available from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
This adjustment aims to accommodate the restrictions imposed by the nationwide curfew, ensuring that essential banking services remain accessible to the public within the permitted time frame. The Bank of Sierra Leone encourages customers, financial institutions, and the public to adhere to these revised hours during this period.
It is emphasized that these modifications are in effect from November 27, 2023, onwards, and further adjustments will be communicated as necessary. The Bank of Sierra Leone appreciates the understanding and cooperation of all stakeholders during these challenging times.
