The Bank of Sierra Leone (BSL) has announced that all commercial bank branches operating within the Queen Elizabeth II Quay area and Cline Town vicinity will significantly extend their daily operating hours.
According to an official issued on August 3, 2026, by Mahawa Korjie, Deputy Director of the Banking Supervision Department, branches in these key economic hubs will now operate from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The directive follows a preliminary stakeholder meeting held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, where the central bank informed bank executives of its strategy to bolster financial access in high-density commercial zones.
Additionally, the central bank emphasised that extending banking hours in these strategic economic corridors is designed to strengthen service delivery, enhance transaction convenience, and support ongoing national revenue mobilisation drives.
The central bank called on all commercial institutions to ensure seamless collaboration, highlighting that full compliance and partnership from financial institutions will be vital to driving economic growth and national development.
