Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio has appointed Honorable Alusine Kanneh as the country’s new Chief Immigration Officer.

Kanneh, a former deputy whip of the Parliament of Sierra Leone was appointed as Chief Immigration Office in a letter dated August 25, 2023. He has a decade of experience both as an immigration expert and Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Internal Affairs.

A letter signed by the Secretary to the President says, “I write to inform you that it has pleased His Ecxcellency the President, Brig (Rtd) Julius Maada Bio to appoint you as the Chief Immigration Officer. 

“The terms and Conditions of service in respect of your appointment will be communicated to you in due course. I am to congratulate you on your appointment and to wish you success in the assignment.”

Kanneh will take over from Andrew J. Kaikai, the current Chief Immigration Officer.
