On Sunday, President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone received a warm welcome in Kenya for the Africa Climate Summit ’23, themed “Driving Green Growth and Climate Finance Solutions for Africa and the World”.

At the request of the Kenyan President, Dr. William Ruto, President Bio joins nearly two dozen other national leaders and over 30,000 attendees at this pivotal Summit.

Initiated and championed by President William Ruto, the first-ever Africa Climate Summit takes place in Nairobi from September 4-6. The focus is on tackling the escalating impacts of climate change, with a special emphasis on its consequences in Africa.

During the summit, President Julius Maada Bio will share Sierra Leone’s approach towards ensuring a climate-resilient future, encompassing both its diverse ecosystems and the welfare of its people. He is set to explore innovative strategies for Green Growth and Climate Finance to help Sierra Leone adapt to and mitigate the effects of climate change, working towards a climate-resilient nation.

The Africa Climate Summit ’23 is more than just a meeting; it’s a call to action. It aims to shape commitments and promises, culminating in the Nairobi Declaration on Climate Change.
