On April 28th, 2023, President Julius Maada Bio commissioned a new 40-bed Community Health Center at Petifu Junction in Lokomasama, Port Loko District.

The newly commissioned center includes a surgical theater, labor and delivery ward, pharmacy, digital X-Ray, and a new ambulance. This center is expected to serve 54 thousand people.

The Minister of Health, Austin Demby, and the President have made significant progress in the development of the health sector. One of the notable initiatives is the upcoming launch of the universal health and preparedness review (UPHR), which aims to provide a comprehensive assessment of emergency preparedness and link it with universal health coverage.

These activities align with the Minister’s ambitious health platform, which aims to provide affordable and quality health services to all Sierra Leoneans.
