Sierra Leone’s incumbent President, Dr. Julius Maada Bio, has assured member Priests of the Regional Union of Priests of West Africa (RUPWA) that the upcoming elections in Sierra Leone will be peaceful.

He made this assurance at the opening of the 9th Congress of the Regional Union of Priests of West Africa (RUPWA) held in Kenema, on the theme: “Elections in Sub-Sahara Africa, the Prophetic Role of Priests as Agents of Peace and Reconciliation.”

Addressing his Catholic kin, Bio boasts of his remarkable record as “the first Catholic to be elected to serve as President” of the West African nation.

He spoke about his achievements as president of Sierra Leone, disclosing how he has worked greatly for the people, adding that his effort has opened doors for other Catholics to be elected as president.

He told the Priests that he is confident that the people will surely reelect him being that he has done so much for them.

In attendance were the First Lady Dr. Fatima Maada Bio and Catholic church priests from across West Africa.
