In a significant move to enhance leadership and streamline decision-making in Sierra Leone’s energy sector, President Julius Maada Bio has appointed Hon. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella to head the sector.
The President has further directed both the Minister of Energy 1 and the Minister of Energy 2 to report directly to Hon. Yumkella, signaling a shift towards a more coordinated approach in addressing the country’s energy challenges.
This decision underscores the President’s commitment to fostering accountability and efficiency within the energy sector, which remains a critical pillar for Sierra Leone’s development.
Hon. Yumkella, a globally recognized energy expert and former Director-General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), is expected to bring his wealth of experience and expertise to drive sustainable energy initiatives, expand access, and implement key reforms.
