President Bio Inspects ECOWAS Summit Venue in Lungi Ahead of Regional Leaders’ Arrival
President Julius Maada Bio on Wednesday carried out an inspection of the Julius Maada Bio International Conference Centre in Lungi as final preparations intensify for the forthcoming ECOWAS Summit, which Sierra Leone is set to host.
President Bio, who currently serves as Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), toured the newly constructed conference facility and its adjoining hotel, both of which will accommodate Heads of State and Government and other high-level delegates expected to attend the regional summit.
The inspection was aimed at assessing the readiness of the venue and ensuring that all facilities meet the standards required for the successful hosting of one of West Africa’s most important diplomatic gatherings.
Accompanying the President during the visit were Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh, Minister of Information and Civic Education Chernor Bah, the Minister of Finance, engineers supervising the project, and several senior government officials.
The inspection forms part of the government’s final arrangements ahead of the summit, with authorities working to ensure that the conference centre and related infrastructure are fully prepared to receive regional leaders and their delegations.
Sierra Leone is expected to welcome Presidents, Prime Ministers, ministers and other dignitaries from ECOWAS member states for the summit, which will focus on key regional issues, including peace, security, economic integration and cooperation across West Africa.
